F.C.C. Agrees to Open Radio Spectrum

November 4, 2008

News Bits

This is great news for consumers.  The broadcasting giants have been trying to secure this spectrum for themselves, while others against the ruling have been concerned of radio frequency interference on their frequencies that are in close proximity.  This spectrum will most likely be used for “WiFi on steroids” allowing all sorts of high-speed broadband services throughout the country, including rural areas where these signals travel further.  This may hurt Sprint’s WiMax as a viable competitor, but it’s going to be great for consumers.
